Scope and Contents This small collection consists of a handwritten letter by French composer, organist, conductor and pianist Camille Saint-Saëns and a photograph portrait of Saint-Saëns. The letter is dated December 22, 1917 and it is unclear to whom it is addressed. The French letter has not yet been translated, therefore the subject matter is presently unknown.

Scope and Contents The Daniel Carpenter commission in the New Jersey militia is a single document appointing Daniel Carpenter, Esq., to Lieutenant in charge of the 3rd District Company of the First Battalion in the 6th Regiment of the [Essex] Brigade of the Militia of New Jersey after his election on 27 May 1830. The document is signed by P.D. Vroom, Governor and Commander-in-Cheif of New Jersey, and James D. Westcott, Secretary of State of New Jersey, dated 16 January 1832.
