Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a single notebook containing handwritten notes dating from 1834 to 1870 by law reporter Robert D. Spencer and others. The name Robert D. Spencer is embossed on the spine of the notebook, and the majority of its content seems to be produced by him. Robert D. Spencer died in 1855, but the entries continue in a different hand until 1870. It is unclear who wrote the later notes. There is an index at the back of the notebook that covers the entries from 1834 to 1850. This...

Rose Elizabeth Thering was born on 9 August 1920, entered the Dominican sisterhood at 16 and later became a teacher. She was a lifelong activist dedicated to increasing tolerance and understanding between Christians and Jews, and her work had great impact, from legislation mandating the teaching of the Holocaust in New Jersey schools to documents created at the Second Vatican Council changing the relationship of the Catholic Church with Jewish people.
