Scope and Contents This is a vast collection of mostly photocopied newspaper and magazine articles, poems, and images, gathered over more than a decade by Alphonse Cartusciello. As an initial guide Mr. Cartusciello appears to have used Campanella’s 2-volume Garibaldi bibliography. (There is a copy currently in SHU’s Valente Collection, donated several years ago by writer Anthony Valerio). Abstract Anthony (Tony) Triano (1928-1997) was a famous New Jersey painter, sculptor, and illustrator. He was also an artist-in-residence and later tenured professor at Seton Hall University. The Anthony Triano collection dates from 1971 to 1997 and documents Triano's professional activities during his tenure at Seton Hall University. The collection includes correspondence, teaching and tenure materials, exhibition materials, sketches, clippings, and blueprints of Seton Hall buildings.

Overview This small collection of ephemera dates from 1765 to 1844. It consists of pamphlets relating to anti-Catholic sentiment, including addresses denouncing Catholicism and materials relating to the Philadelphia Nativist Riots, in which Protestant nativist groups lashed out against Irish Catholic immigrants and burned several Catholic churches.

Overview The Diocese of Newark was created in 1853 and was elevated to an Archdiocese in 1937. The Chancery Office required parish priests to submit yearly reports reflecting the financial and spiritual condition of their churches. The Diocese of Newark Church reports include the annual reports of parish priests to the Chancery Office from 1843-1925, which themselves include information on population and sacramental statistics.
