The collection was primarily assembled by Michel Jeifa, who survived the Holocaust but suffered the loss of his parents in concentration camps during the war.

Some of the letters concern donations for a new building to replace the main building lost in fire in January 1866. McQuaid's replies are not contained within the collection. Also included is an image of McQuaid.
